What is Science Olympiad?

Science Olympiad is a national competition with levels going from elementary school all the way up through high school.  At Noble, we participate in the Milpitas Elementary Science Olympiad (MESO).  This event has an entry fee, which must be raised in order to register a team.  Teams are limited to 15 people, so at Noble we often have enough students for 2 or 3 teams.  Each student is only allowed to be on one team, but they may compete in multiple events for their team.  While each team is technically competing against all other teams, at Noble we do not treat our teams as competition.  Noble students can study and prepare for their events together with other Noble teams and share resources.  We want to support all Noble participants!  Our goals are to learn something, to have fun, and to make a new friend or spend time with an old one.

Event Structure

On the morning of the event, there are usually 4 blocks of time for events.  In Block 1, you will have 4 events scheduled.  This means your student can't participate in more than one of these 4 events because they all happen at the same time.  Your student may participate in 1 event per block, so at most 4 events total.  Students don't have to participate in all the blocks, so don't be stressed by this!

Note From our Science Olympiad Committee:

Noble will again be sponsoring teams for the  Elementary Science Olympiad competition that will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2026 at Milpitas High School. This will be for 2nd to 6th graders. 6th graders who do not attend Noble are welcome to join our team.

Please let the committee know if you have questions. If it's a short question, please email. If it's a longer discussion, please come to one of the scheduled meetings so we can discuss.
