Through a Steps to Success grant, the Family and Community Engagement program is pleased to offer two workshops for parents and caregivers to support reading development for children.
Encouraging Literacy at Home - March 31 from noon-1pm
This workshop will provide practical and fun tips for parents and caregivers to support their child’s literacy development such as:
• talk about what you are doing and going to do
• have books available and read together
• play with sounds and make up silly rhymes
Interactive Read Aloud - April 28 from noon-1pm
This workshop will demonstrate an interactive read aloud - an engaging, high-impact instructional strategy where
parents, caregivers, and children can:
• build reading skills in a meaningful way
• interact using questions and discussions
• gain vocabulary and reading comprehension
